Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fans are fuming with the news that Sergio Ramos did not start for the Ligue 1 leaders ahead of Marseille. The 36-year-old has had a rough start in Paris, having missed most of his debut season through injury.
He returned to action earlier this month in PSG’s 5-1 win over Lorient before playing his first full 90 minutes of last weekend’s 6-1 win over Clermont.
There are expectations that Mauricio Pochettino will choose to start Real Madrid man against Marseille, but he must settle for a place on the bench.
Fans reacted to the news and could say there was disappointment on Twitter:

Sergio Ramos extends stay at PSG?
Despite making just seven appearances for the Parisians this season, Ramos wants to stay at the Ligue 1 giants. The veteran defender has spoken to Amazon Prime (via Amazon. SportsMole) where he hinted that he would seek to prolong his stay with the Parisians:
“I want to play another four to five years at a high level, and then experience something different. I have two years in Paris, we will try to achieve three years! Another year, and then we I’ll see. But as long as the body holds up, I think I can keep my head in good focus.”
The absence of Ramos from the PSG side is a nuisance because sometimes, his experience in the backline can help. Certainly in the UEFA Champions League, where PSG played former team Real Madrid, left the competition in disappointing form.
When Ramos returned to play against Lorient earlier this month, he was subsequently booed by the Parc des Princes faithful.
Since then, he has continued to turn the tide based on fans’ opinions of him and the reaction from supporters that he did not start against Marseille shows he is becoming a favorite.
Ramos’ side will look to continue the fine form that has seen them go eighteen games unbeaten at the Parc des Princes.
Currently, they are twelve points ahead of the top team, while Marseille are in second place, making tonight’s clash between the two sides more interesting.
