Google Pixel 7 may have a Hall sensor, could back support for flips

The Google Pixel 6a recently went on sale for the first time in India on Thursday. The company may now shift its focus to the Pixel 7 series, which is expected to include the vanilla Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. This product line is said to include the second-generation Google Tensor SoC. The lineup has been part of the rumor mill, with more and more alleged specs popping up from time to time. Recently, a debug code was discovered suggesting that the Pixel 7 may have a Hall sensor.

The mention the code is spot by technology editor Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman). Debug documentation related to Pixel 7 refers to the existence of hall sensor. Reportedly, these sensors were last inserted by Google above Pixel 2.

Rahman further speculated that Google Pixel 6a there may also be a hall sensor, although it’s not mentioned in the spec sheet yet. The phone is said to come with a driver for the sensor. The Hall sensor is designed to detect the magnetic field of a magnet usually placed in flip-flops. It allows the smartphone to recognize when the flap is open or closed.

Google may come up with their own flip models, as the Pixel 7 series might have them, and the Pixel 6a could already have this sensor.

According to a recent report, the Pixel 7 could feature a 50-megapixel Samsung GN1 main sensor and a Sony IMX381 ultra-wide-angle sensor. The Pixel 7 Pro, on the other hand, is expected to feature a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 telephoto sensor. The alleged live images of the smartphone have also been released leaked recently. This alleged test build of the Pixel 7 Pro runs on Android 13 and is codenamed ‘Cheetah’. A past report mentions that it may also have a Samsung S6E3HC4 display with a resolution of 1,440×3,120 pixels.
