Apple may soon start dropping ads on your iPhone and iPad through some apps like Maps, Books, Podcasts, etc. Here’s why.
Apple is planning to expand advertising to a larger area on your iPhone and iPad soon! This comes from Apple analyst Mark Gurman Who says that Apple is expanding its advertising business and push ads on many of its software products. However, Apple currently shows ads in the App Store, Stocks, and News apps on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The App Store already has Google-like search ads, and even recently Apple put on TV+ ads for its “Friday Night Baseball” deal with Major League Baseball, Bloomberg reports cited by Gurman. But this latest development suggests that your iPhone and iPad may soon start receiving ads on a number of other apps like Maps, Books, and even Podcasts in the future.
Gurman hinted that Apple is expected to offer an option for its iPhone and iPad users to turn off personalized ads like a feature called App Tracking Transparency (ATT) debuts. last year. What does it do? It basically allows users to choose whether apps can track them on other apps and websites. Apple says about 78% of iOS 15 users on their iPhone have done this. However, it can still capture some data such as your carrier’s identity, device type and what you read.
Why Apple plans to push ads on iPhone and iPad
Mark Gurman thinks Apple’s App Tracking Transparency has created some revenue loss for companies big and small alike. “You might not feel too bad for social media giants like Meta Platforms Inc. and Snap Inc. that have claimed to have lost billions of dollars due to Apple’s changes, but developers are small. more also said that this feature has affected their business,” he added. While keeping this in mind, Apple may expand its own advertising business over time.
Furthermore, ads are now shown in the search tab in the Recommended panel on App Store, but also expect to expand the ads to the main Today tab and in third-party app download pages as well. Next to Maps, Apple Podcasts and Books, Gurman predicts that TV+ can generate more ads with multiple platforms like Netflix, Disney, Discovery, etc.
