Governor Award Delayed – The Hollywood Reporter
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Wednesday the 12th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to be held on January 15, has been postponed because of the recent increase in in COVID cases.
Samuel L. Jackson, Elaine May and Liv Ullmann received honorary Oscars and Danny Glover will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at a star-studded gala at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel.
“We have made the difficult decision to change our plans to personally host the Governor’s Awards on January 15,” the Academy said in a statement. “Given the uncertainties surrounding variations and the impact this will have on our community, we feel this is the best and safest decision for our honorees and guests. The rescheduled plans will come at a later date as we continue to prioritize the health and well-being of all involved.
