GQ Men of the Year: Here’s How You Get a Literary Medal for Dressing Well

Your work has to run everywhere. But to be honest, Uncut Gems really my only point of reference.

Greg Yuna: Uncut Gems is about a jeweler in the diamond district, but he’s also a chronic gambler. Not all jewelers do. It’s a guy with a chronic gambling addiction and has ventured into a bad world. But yes, we do a lot of running around — what you see there on that block [in the movie] is what we do.

Okay, and I assume you know Mike Francesa.

Yes of course.

How are the GQ Big Fit of the Year Awards coming out? Do you have it now?

I don’t have it on hand, but I will. But this is what they look like in wax. [Holds up purple mold] That’s the front. It’s the back side.

And then it will be a string?

It would be like a medal like they do in the Olympics with that ribbon.

GQ’s art department came up with the original design, right?

They sent it the way they wanted. I’m basically wondering the rest.

What do you mean when you say that?

Basically put the metal where, and put the diamond where I feel.

How long does something like this usually take?

To pump out something like this usually takes about four to six weeks from start to finish.

However, I assume your job involves a lot of last minute requests.

that is always last minute request. I never get a break.

What metal and diamond are you using for this?

So on this we went silver with a gold plate, with real diamonds. I added my little flair to it and we made diamonds. I think, we can’t go all in silver and nothing else, so let’s just add some stones to it and make it glamorous.
