Grandfather shot while his 2-year-old grandson was at home was targeted in north Houston, police say

The grandfather was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where the case investigator said doctors were optimistic about his condition.
“The kids saw it all, and that’s the part that broke my heart, when a 2-year-old saw his grandfather get beaten and shot,” Reyes said. “Just heartbreaking.”
Detective Garcia, who is solving the case, said it was a deliberate robbery.
Family members believe it is because they own several fruit businesses.

Garcia said they have guides they are monitoring but described the suspects as younger Hispanic males in a dark SUV.
