GWM Tank 700: Chinese off-road vehicle previewed in official images

Great Wall Motor’s Tank released an official image of its latest SUV, after its release the photo is not good by the Chinese government last week.

Show pictures of production models tank 700 was published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, depicting what appears to be a lower-spec model finished in white.

On the brand’s Weibo account, they admit these images aren’t the best, saying, “I didn’t take a good ID photo” with a smiling emoji.

The teaser image shows what appears to be a premium model with 22-inch black and silver alloy wheels that look sportier like those of the 2021 concept.

There’s a black finish for the grille and roof rails, while the interior also appears to have dark upholstery.

China Automotive News Reportedly the Tank 700 will debut at this year’s Shanghai auto show, which will take place in April.

“Australia has not made a decision on the 700 tank. As with all new models, we will see if it is possible to establish a business case,” a GWM Australia spokesperson said.

Tank 700 measures 5090mm long, 2061mm wide and 1952mm tall on a 3000mm wheelbase, slightly larger than Toyota Landcrusier 300in the guise of the Sahara ZX measures 5015mm long, 2000mm wide and 1950mm tall on a 2850mm wheelbase.

It is about the same size as the more conservatively styled Tank 500, at 5070mm long, 1934mm wide and 1905mm tall on a 2850mm wheelbase.

GWM has yet to release full specs for the upcoming Tank 700, however, the concept features a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission that produces 268 kW of power and torque. – 450 Nm torque.

The concept has a host of terrain features including climbing and wading modes; locking front, middle and rear differentials; air suspension system; and an active stabilizer bar that can disconnect the left and right wheels.

700 will be at the top of the growing Tank range. The Tank GWM 300 already on sale in Australia and the GWM Tank 500 is expected to launch later this year, while the brand also unveiled a flagship 800 luxury SUV concept in 2021 that looks to be production-ready.

All are traditional body-on-frame SUVs.

The Tank brand was launched globally in 2021 and aims to sell 350,000 vehicles this year globally and achieve the highest off-road SUV market share in China and the third highest globally.

The company aims to sell 500,000 vehicles by 2025 and become the world’s leading off-road SUV brand in terms of market share.

It sold 123,881 vehicles globally by 2022, making it Great Wall Motor’s third best-selling brand ahead of electric vehicle brand Ora (103,996) and premium crossover brand Wey (36,381).
