Love is all around us Halle Berry.
Before accepting the People’s Icon Award at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards this week, the actress attended the 4th Annual Black Film & Television Celebration event on December 7, where she received the Career Achievement Award.
After receiving a standing ovation from the audience, Halle couldn’t hold back her tears as she looked back on her journey in Hollywood.
“When I started 30 years ago, there weren’t rooms like this where I could come in and feel validated or appreciated. I was often alone,” she said. “I’m just one of the few Negroes in the room looking to find my worth, searching to find my worth, feeling fulfilled.”
Halle continued, “In the next 30 years, to be standing here, not just as an actor, but now as a director, being real and being true to who you are and doing it the way you want it to. Probably one of the greatest joys of my life and I’m so happy to share this with all of you.”
