HCSO saves 2 stranded crew members
Tampa, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) rescued two stranded boaters in Tampa Bay waters Monday.
Officers of the Marine Unit were conducting sea patrols when they observed a disabled boat with one person on board and two adults in the water. Both were underwater and nearly 200 meters from the boat, appearing to be in distress. HCSO said one of the individuals did not have a protective vest.
Authorities rushed to rescue the stranded boaters and get them on board to safety.
“I am very grateful to our Marine Unit for patrolling and preparing for a situation like this. Had they not been patrolling the waters, this could have ended very differently,” said Chad Police Chief Chronister said. “Summer is almost here. I would like to remind all boaters to make sure their boats are in good condition, and please always wear life jackets. These simple steps can be the difference between a boat and a boat. a good day on the water or a tragedy.”
The rowers were then taken back to their ships and returned to the marina.
