‘He Saved Me in the Darkest Times’

Monday is official Harry Styles Day on Lido, when hundreds of fans of the British pop star gathered outside the Palazzo del Cinema, where his new film is located. Don’t worry, baby will premiere at the Venice Film Festival this evening.

Although director Olivia Wilde’s film won’t show until 7 p.m. CET, fans of Styles started lining up this morning before 7 a.m. — more than 12 hours before showtime.

“I hope to meet him and take a selfie with him, but I don’t know if I can,” one of those fans, Nicole, told The Daily Beast, citing her position. It’s deeper on the red carpet.

The 17-year-old took about an hour and a half to Lido and started queuing around 10am. She was pondering what to write on a giant sign for Styles in magic marker as we spoke.

Don’t worry, babya psychological drama about a 1950s housewife (Florence Pugh) who begins to question the idyllic life her husband (Harry Styles) has built for her in a desert oasis community called is Project Victory, was attracted a lot of buzz before taking place in Venice—Though most are concerned about the off-screen drama starring the director, Olivia Wilde, Styles’ new bride, the lead lady of Miss Pugh, who declined to attend the press conference in Venice for the film, and Shia LaBeouf, who Wilde claims was terminated from the project due to a lack of chemistry between his lead and his aggressive behavior (replaced with Styles). LaBeouf, who has a long history of not telling the truth, countered by leaking text messages and videos implying the opposite.

One of the most eye-catching signs on the Venice red carpet was courtesy of Rebecca, a 16-year-old girl from Italy. The sign reads, “Since my mother passed away, you are my only reason to live!”

Rebecca, who started lining up at the red carpet at 9 a.m., says she’s been a Styles fan for four years, and his stage presence is nothing short of enchanting.

“On stage, he was himself,” she said. “Awesome.”

The teenager travels with you hoping to catch a glimpse — and of course a selfie — with the global icon, who Rolling Stone recently had the brand “New King of Pop”. They bring bread and water to prepare for the 10 hour wait.

As for the sign, Rebecca told me her mother passed away in May after a battle with cancer — and it was Styles who helped her deal with its trauma.

“He is my life,” she said. “He saved me in my darkest times.”
