Heavy rain causes flooding, evacuations and rescues in parts of New Jersey and New York
National Weather Service A Flood Warning has been issued for multiple areas in the Tri-State on Friday, including Hudson, Bergen, Morris, Essex, Passaic, Middlesex, Warren and Somerset counties in New Jersey and Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Sullivan counties in New Jersey. York.
Residents were evacuated Friday morning in New Milford, Bergen County, where the Hackensack River is bending.

About 14 people had to be rescued by police from their homes.
Firefighters estimate 100 residents live in the area, a known flooded location.
The situation is as bad as it is today, they say they have seen much worse. This is the same area affected by Hurricane Ida in September 2021.
However, Derick Waller of Eyewitness News spoke on the phone to a resident whose house was surrounded by water and said he never expected the river to rise so quickly.

The tide came in around 2pm on Friday, so they expect more flooding after that.
Firefighters said there was also flooding in Oradell, north of New Milford.
According to NJ Transit, “Our Oradell Bus Garage was flooded with water in and out of our garage, making it impossible for buses to start. We used buses from other garages to secure multiple trips. go as far as you can.”
NJ Transit bus service on lines 155, 157, 158, 162, 163, 164, 165, 166, 167, 168 and 177, has been delayed until further notice.
And in Lodi, police reported local flooding on Main Street between Union Street and Kennedy Street and near the Passaic Avenue Bridge.
Heavy rain caused the Passaic River to overflow Thursday night, flooding a Hawthorne restaurant parking lot and prompting residents to evacuate.
About 300 diners at the Bottagra restaurant on Wagaraw Road were trapped by the rapid rise of water just after 10pm and were helped by rescuers.
“You’re talking about two feet of water,” said Gino Baglieri, a worker at the restaurant.
“It’s very scary. People slip, slide. People get hurt,” he said.
In nearby Paterson, firefighters were busy with flooding from the Passaic River, including helping workers trapped in a building on 85th Avenue.
Flooding was also reported north of New Jersey in New York, where a driver was rescued from a stuck car at South Pasack Road and Grotke Road.
