Her Son In Tiger’s Jaws, Madhya Pradesh Woman Fought It With Bare Hands

Her son in tiger's jaws, Madhya Pradesh woman hit him with bare hands

The mother had a punctured lung and wounds all over her body.

Bhopal:

A woman who fought a tiger with her bare hands to save her 15-month-old son in Madhya Pradesh has impressed many with her bravery.

Archana Choudhary, 25, stepped out of the house on Sunday night when her son wanted to relieve himself. A tiger believed to have strayed from the nearby Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is hiding in the fields and attacking them.

The tiger holds the cub in its jaws, but the mother fights with the animal and screams. The tiger tried to grab the boy and Archana refused to let go, trying to shield her son. The villagers finally ran over as soon as they heard the mother’s screams.

The tiger ran away into the forest.

The mother had a punctured lung and wounds all over her body. The child panted overhead.

Both the woman and her son are recovering in hospital and are believed to be out of danger.

“She is out of danger and is recovering. The baby is also fine,” local official Sanjeev Shrivastava told AFP.

A big tiger hunt is going on and villagers have been asked to stay indoors at night.

India is home to about 70% of the world’s tigers.

According to government figures, nearly 225 people were killed in tiger attacks between 2014 and 2019 in India.

More than 200 tigers were killed by poachers or electrocuted between 2012 and 2018, the data shows.
