Home Affairs retires to Coolmore Australia | Racing news

The Australian sprinter retired after connections revealed he was “not 100% sound enough” after running Royal Ascot out of his place.

Coached by Chris Waller, the Home Office got a short cut to compete with the Nature Strip, the steady company that won his King title as he lined up during Saturday’s Platinum Jubilee Staking.

However, I Am Invincible’s son finished 20th out of 24 runners-up in Group One and will now retire with Coolmore’s breeding operation in Australia as a Group One double winner after won the Coolmore Stud Stakes last year and beat the Nature Strip in this year’s Lightning.

Coolmore Principal Tom Magnier said: “The Department of Home Affairs has quit and will go straight to Coolmore once he returns to Australia.

“He wasn’t at 100% after Saturday’s race, which could explain his disappointing effort. It’s a shame he didn’t run at his level. He has shown in both wins in Group 1 that will bring him to win.

“The Nature Strip is more proof if it’s the caliber of Australian sprinters than the rest of the world.”

Waller was full of praise for his former inmate, adding: “The Home Office is an individual of great looks and a pleasure to train.

“He has everything we look for in a racehorse.”
