Home intruder shot by police after stabbing officer Sandy Springs multiple times – WSB-TV Channel 2
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. – A Sandy Springs police officer was attacked and stabbed several times by an intruder Friday morning before another officer shot him, police said.
Police said the incident happened at a home on Cameron Glen Road.
Police say that several neighbors called police about a suspicious man who might have broken into a home. Video from a neighbor’s doorbell camera shows the man, who is wearing NSdisguise, walk in the middle of the street and then go into a garage.
Police found the man inside a home and the man began attacking an officer, police said. A second officer shot the man to stop the attack.
Both the man and the officer were treated at the hospital and are stable. The second officer was also treated for a minor hand injury and released.
Police said the officer was stabbed in the chest and head but the attack did not hit any of his vital organs. His identity has yet to be revealed.
The man’s identity has also not been released.

Neighborhood President Adam Blatt told Steve Gehlbach of Channel 2 that a suspicious man was wandering the neighborhood and entering people’s garages.
Blatt said he then walked through the woods and returned to a house two streets away, where he went inside and encountered the woman.
The homeowner told Blatt that her adult son had gone downstairs to try to kick the man out of their home, but that he was suffering from mental health issues and was very confused.
“She came down and he was in the kitchen and they talked and he didn’t seem to be 100 percent,” Blatt said. “I believe they tried to talk to him, but that went nowhere and they immediately called the police.”
They called the police and left the house. The owner said that when he entered the house, he did not appear to have a weapon.
“It doesn’t look like he was actually armed, so he somehow got hold of a weapon,” police said.
Police said when they arrived at the home, the man was still in the living room, which is where he attacked.
GBI is on the scene and assisting with the investigation. Investigators received a warrant to search the home and begin processing it. Police are working to find out where the knife came from.
It is unclear what charges the man will face.
