Honda Civic Type R TCR 2023 revealed, even wider than a road car

Just like the previous generation, the birth of Honda Civic Type R 2023 which means there’s a new TCR class race car based on the same hot hatchback. It’s just been revealed, and it seems to make a lot of sense. Honda’s motobike claims that it even works better than before.

Despite that statement, Honda didn’t reveal many specifics. It mainly just notes that it will generate more downforce and that its new chassis offers better handling. Under the hood is a race-prepared version of the Type R’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder mated to a race car transmission. Based on the old TCRpower output is probably about 340 horsepower, increase or decrease some depending on the tune.

Like the old model, the Type R TCR will be built and developed by JAS Performance in Italy (yes, they are Italian racing cars). In the United States, they will be available through HPD. Various options are available such as driver cooling, quick refueling, a nicer driver information display, ABS and more lights.

Price has not been announced. The old car cost about $170,000 with no options. HPD will open pre-orders on February 1 and the car’s launch race will take place in April at IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
