In addition to being the current head coach Team India, Rahul Dravid It’s also one of the best golf clubs this country has ever produced. He was part of India’s ‘Fab 5’ along with Virender Sehwag, Sachin TendulkarSourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, formed a strong batting squad for over a decade.
However, Dravid is almost an unsung hero in most cases. The right-hander often works hard to damage the new ball and plays marathon shots to allow the players around him to score at a decent pace.
Rahul Dravid is also someone who used to think too much about his game even when India wasn’t playing. Speaking to Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra on his podcast ‘In the Zone’, Dravid explains how he realized the importance of taking a mental break after a game. He say:
“I used to spend a lot of energy even when I wasn’t playing thinking about my game, worrying about it and thinking about it. Over time, I learned that it didn’t necessarily help the game. hit my ball. I need to refresh and almost find a life. outside of cricket.”

Dravid also talks about why a rather funny character like Sehwag finds it a little easier to close the game. On the other hand, the current coach of India must gradually learn its importance. He added:
“Honestly, I’ll never be like Viru (Virender Sehwag). He finds it a lot easier because of his personality. But I’m starting to notice red marks.”
Dravi continued:
“If you do all that but can’t mentally turn it off, you won’t have enough energy to play the game. When I started to realize that three or four years into my career, I started Top efforts to turn off more and it has helped me a lot.”

Quite a few former fast archers like Shoaib Akhtar have spoken out about how difficult it is for them to penetrate Rahul Dravid’s defence. Dravid admits that scoring quickly is probably not his forte. He says he built his game around hitting the ball for hours and knocking out opposing pitchers:
“As my career progressed, I realized, I would never become a goalscorer as fast as Sehwag did or maybe at the same level as Sachin did. I always needed patience.”

“I liked the pitcher-me contest, I kind of tried to make it a one-on-one competition. I find that helps me focus a little bit more.”
Rahul Dravid has had an extremely successful career at the top level, accumulating 13,288 and 10,889 runs in Test and ODI respectively. He recorded a mammoth 48th century and 146th half century across both formats.
