HORNET-ATHLETES STUDENTS EARN 97 ALL ACADEMY AWARDS IN SPRING



SACRAMENTO, California – Sacramento State student-athletes combined to receive 97 statewide awards in the spring semester. In total, during the school year, Sacramento State student-athletes combined to win 203 class awards, including 72 in the fall and 34 in the winter.

Rowing, the only Sacramento State sport to compete in the US Athletics Conference, has received 22 all-around titles. Women’s track and field are second with 15 titles while baseball and men’s track and field have 11 leading the men’s teams.

To be eligible for US all-academic honors, a nominated candidate must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the academic year and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters of academic work.

To be eligible for academically comprehensive Big Sky accreditation, a student-athlete must meet and/or exceed the following minimum requirements: 1) Achieve a 3.2 cumulative GPA ( on a 4.0 scale) at the end of the most recently completed assignment for the term; 2) Participated in at least 50 percent of competitions; 3) Have completed at least one semester of study at his/her current Big Sky institution.

To be eligible to join the Big West all-academic team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, complete a full year at the member institution prior to the season in which the award is being received. (at least a sophomore) and participate in at least 50 percent of his or her team’s competitions.

To qualify for the Western Athletic Conference team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2, and have participated in at least 50 percent of their competitions. team (20% for pitchers).
