Houston crime: DJ shot inside club on Bissonnet Street received medical aid from visiting nurses from the New York area, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A night out in town turned dangerous at an Alief neighborhood club after a DJ was shot while at work early Sunday morning, according to police.

Police said they were called around 3:30 a.m. to a bar on Bissonnet Road and Dairy Ashford Road.

The security guard at work is said to be unable to identify the shooter as so many people stormed out of the club shortly after the shooting.

Investigators said nurses, who were at the club visiting from the New York area, helped provide medical assistance to the DJ until first responders arrived.

Police said DJ was shot in the stomach, but they are not sure if he was the intended target.

“We don’t know if it was intentional. It’s in the air right now. Whether the suspect has been inside the whole time, or he just walked in. Things were pretty cramped at the time. the point it happened and the music took place. We don’t know,” said LT. Ignacio Izaguirre.

DJ was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

A suspect has yet to be identified.
