How does Resident Evil 4 Remake connect with Resident Evil 2
Of course, Leon Kennedy will remain the protagonist of Resident Evil 4 for the upcoming remake of the game, but this time Capcom is taking a slightly different approach. The studio is connecting more directly Resident Evil 4 with Leon’s first appearance – Raccoon City Incident in Resident Evil 2.
Speaking to GameSpot, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said that Leon will address the incident during the Resident Evil 4 remake. At certain points, you can see the game “bring him back to the thing itself. reality.” Leon, suffering from PTSD, was a brand new cop when the incident occurred.
It remains to be seen exactly what that entails, but this isn’t the first time Resident Evil has remade creatively reused elements of previous games. For instance, the remake of Resident Evil 3 will take us back to the police station from Resident Evil 2 in a nutshell.
However, Resident Evil 4 is definitely still in a unique position compared to the previous two remakes. While those games had to undergo major gameplay changes to move from 90s “tank” controls to more modern third-person shooter controls, Resident Evil 4 used the looked over his shoulder when it first debuted. Those might be the smaller tweaks and additions that stand out the most, and given how well-loved Resident Evil 4 is, expectations are sure to be sky-high.
Resident Evil 4 Releases March 24, 2023 for Xbox Series X | S, PS5, PS4 and PC. Both previous remakes are playable on new generation systems with performance upgrades.
