How not to get sucked in with Fortnite’s Kinetic Blade
Fortnite Chapter 4 started with the introduction of the beloved Shock Hammer in Season 1, and now Season 2 has swapped that blunt tool for a more elegant weapon: the Kinetic Blade katana. This is hard to believe, and like the hammer before it, will often be the deciding factor in victory or defeat this season.
There’s a big difference between being moderate with the Kinetic Blade and being great at it. Anyone can hit the yeet and get lucky sometimes, but once you really know what you’re doing with the katana – that means you don’t just know How to use it but also When–then you will slash and throw your enemies everywhere in an instant. Fortunately, you don’t have to do this alone. Below you’ll find detailed information about this weapon, from our full explanation of the mechanics to the combat situations where you’ll need to use it.
How exactly does Kinetic Blade work
The Kinetic Blade fills the niche where the hammer did, as a tool for quick movement and also with some serious combat potential when used properly and in the right situations. But more literally, Kinetic Blade is a whole new gameplay mechanic that really doesn’t work like a hammer. So we all started fresh with this one that requires a bit more dexterity than a hammer.
The Kinetic Blade can do two things: a dash attack, which propels you forward fairly quickly and deals 60 damage, and a two-part knockback that deals 35 damage on the first hit. first and 70 points in the second. And the second hit will also cause the target to fly back away from you, dealing damage when you’re high enough.
By the way, that reverse attack is Are not a combo–you just need to click/pull the trigger once and your character will automatically do the entire counter sequence. So try not to press buttons with Kinetic Blade, or you could accidentally lock yourself into a verbose animation a second time that you didn’t mean to.
Like last season’s Shockwave Hammer, Kinetic Blade is primarily for mobility as you move around the map. Of course, you can and should use it as a weapon, because that drop damage is no joke with all the heights added to the map this season, but you’ll be using it to move a lot. While each dash won’t take you as far as the hammer did, it does take half as long to recharge–and you can use it to plunge straight into the air three times in a row, allowing you to have been much better height than the hammer ever made.
Best way to use Kinetic Blade as a weapon against other players
When it To be when it’s time to fight, you shouldn’t use the Kinetic Blade as your primary weapon most of the time–guns are still much more effective at killing your enemies in most situations. But there are cases in every battle royale round where removing this is the right thing to do. Namely: whenever you’re about to fight someone near a big ledge, such as on Loot Island, the top of a skyscraper in Mega City, any castle on the map, or any any cliff on the island.
For these situations, the Kinetic Blade is King of the Hill’s weapon – that’s more of a kids game than a TV show. So it’s really good to just clear everyone off your hill, whether it’s a house on Loot Island, the top of a skyscraper in Mega City, any castle on the map, or just is a realistic hill. Players have a variety of methods to survive this season–such as the Aerialist add-on and the Kinetic Blade itself, which can launch a javelin attack at any time while you’re in the air.
But even if you don’t finish them off, clearing your opponent off the high ground and taking it on your own is a great way to turn the tide in your favor. And Kinetic Blade is perfect for that.
The best place to practice using this sword is on the Loot Island that appears in the middle of the round. Instead of using a zipline to climb it, use one of the cracks scattered in the ground below it and plunge into the roof of the house it rests on. If someone is hanging out on that roof, attack them with a counter attack and activate your best mocking expression while they fall to the ground. But even if they crash a glider or jump out of the sword to save themselves, they’re no longer on that roof, and there you are. Advantage: you.
However, ground battles were not the sword’s only primary combat purpose. It’s also great for scaring people. A key factor to success in any competitive multiplayer game is aggression–when you surprise someone and get them to their feet, it’s usually in your favor and harmful to them. So while rushing at someone who’s shooting at you is usually a bad idea, using javelins to initiate a fight has a great chance of spooking your target and making them easy to capture.
And while most people will reflexively use swords to try to run away when they’re overrun by an opposing team – which is usually the right thing to do, according to the record – it has good fighting potential in extreme situations. that situation because of the aforementioned panic factor. It doesn’t have to be the odds, but it can give you a real chance – we don’t remember how many times a panic shot straight into someone’s face saved us when we I thought I was only seconds away from dying.
If you’ve made it this far, you should be ready to enter the world with the Kinetic Blade. Just remember not to use it as a crutch when it’s time to fight-spam sword attacks are a surefire ticket to your digital grave. Knowing when to use it is half the battle.
