How the Model-Off-Duty style has changed over the years
Prolific street style photographer Acielle’s Du Monde’s style said it best, telling me, “Shooting models’ street style has always been my favorite. I feel like their style is often a bit edgier. It’s hard to pinpoint general trends because they have such a great personal style but maybe it’s become a bit more eclectic over the years.” When I researched hundreds of street style photos, I noticed that the models of the last decade resembled uniforms somewhat. Here at Who What Wear, we’ve told lots of stories about old model wardrobe staples, and they all feature skinny jeans, moto leather jackets, and oversized handbags. . These days, it’s hard to define a model’s “look” on duty, as their style has become so unique and individual. But the best way to explain this is to see it for yourself.
Below, I’ve rounded up multiple photos of models from the past decade that best showcase how their style evolved outside of work. And remember to scroll to the end to shop inspired by models from the years.
