How to cool the Earth? Planet reaches catastrophic heat as climate change bites

Soaring temperatures around the world have people questioning, ‘how to cool the Earth’. With climate change activists pointing the finger at human activities, here’s some food for thought.

The idea of planetary air to cool Earth’s increasingly warming climate seems to be getting serious. Two different high-powered groups – one of the scientists and the other of the former world leaders – have come up with ethics and management guidelines to deal with the increasingly warming climate of the Earth. The newly created Climate Control Committee includes former presidents of Mexico, Niger and Kiribati, a former Canadian prime minister, former director of the World Trade Organization and other country ministerial officials. The Commission will hold its first meeting in Italy on June 8.

How to Cool the Earth: What’s the Agenda?

The first point is to devise a governance strategy to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. The second most important thing on the table is figuring out how to lower the temperature by reflecting sunlight back into space using man-made methods.

The American Geophysical Union, the largest organization of scientists working on climate issues, has published an ethical framework for “climate intervention” that is being prepared for debate in the future. Major international climate talks will be held at the end of November in Egypt.

Although both groups deny advocating geosynthetic technology, both say ideas need to be discussed with addressing global warming ahead of the international goal of limiting the increase in temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) since pre-industrial times. According to reports, the world has warmed 1.1 degrees Celsius (2 degrees Fahrenheit) since the mid-1800s and is likely to surpass the 1.5-degree mark by the 2030s.

Geoengineering used to introduce particles into the air to reflect sunlight or whiten clouds, or remove carbon dioxide, is less controversial. Technology sucks carbon out of the air but we also need more nature-based solutions like more trees and making oceans absorb more carbon.

“The issue of climate change is at a point where even extreme options need to be addressed,” said Jesse Reynolds, Executive Secretary of the Beyond Limits Committee, in an interview Monday with PTI. think seriously,” he added, “Now, it should be clear, thinking about them includes the possibility of rejecting them. But not thinking about them doesn’t seem like a responsible way forward.”

However, the idea that there is a need to follow ethical principles before doing anything to gain public trust, just as the scientific community did with the ability to clone people, Randy Fiser, AGU CEO said.
