How to distinguish between symptoms?
Although fever is one of the most common symptoms noted with both COVID and dengue, it is also key to distinguishing between the two infections.
Typically, a fever associated with COVID-19 is thought to be low or moderate, reaching a maximum of 102 degrees Fahrenheit and can be controlled with medications such as paracetamols.
In contrast, the fever noted during a dengue infection can rise dramatically, up to 103-105 degrees F. This can be accompanied by other serious symptoms that may require aggressive treatment.
Furthermore, compared with COVID fever, which can come and go, dengue-related fever can be persistent. That said, the type of fever you have can help predict whether you have COVID-19 or dengue.
