The Rose Tournament is back. After returning last year from canceled festivals, the 134th Rose Parade will march on Pasadena’s Colorado Avenue on Monday, January 2, 2023. (The event was already held. held according to the “Never on Sunday” tradition since 1893.)
Former Arizona congressman Gabby Giffords is hosting the flower-filled festival, which will be broadcast live starting 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET on local ABC and NBC channels, The Channel. Fitz and the Tantrums will begin the parade with a special performance by Honda featuring young singers and the Rose Parade Youth Dance Team, and Grammy Award-winning artist Tanya Tucker will close the festival. with a grand finale presented by Mansion Entertainment Group.
Live audiences and at-home viewers can expect to see floating cars from brands, corporations, and nonprofits including AIDS Health Foundation, City of Hope, Tourism Louisiana, Nascar, University of California. Penn State School, Snapchat, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios in partnership with Nouns, Trader Joe’s, etc. Southern California cities like Burbank, South Pasadena and Torrance will also launch works covered in plants.
The 2023 Rose Queen is Altadena high school senior Bella Ballard, an Ogburn School senior who will transfer to Yale in the fall. At each release, Ballard volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House Charities and Chelsea Football Club; play football at Santa Clarita Blue Heat Soccer Club, West Coast Soccer Club and Venice Beach Soccer Club; and played tennis at the Arroyo Seco and Flint Canyon Tennis Clubs.
