The couple moved from Louisiana to the Houston area shortly before Hurricane Harvey made landfall.
By then, they had been through the unthinkable. Back in 2004, their young daughter died of cancer.

After the death of their daughter, the whole family had to go through Hurricane Katrina. During her recovery, Khristy was diagnosed with breast cancer.
After beating cancer, the family moved to the Houston area, where they were then attacked by Harvey, destroying their home and all of their belongings.
They move into a new home, and Khristy is re-diagnosed with cancer.
This time, it was stage four breast cancer, which had spread to her liver and spine.
“What has helped me is the amount of love and support, emails and texts and people giving love, support and prayers,” Khristy told ABC13 in 2019.
“We learned to appreciate the little things in life,” Corey said at the time. “It’s the little things that we sometimes take for granted.”
In an online update, Khristy’s friend Cindy Woods announced that Khristy passed away on April 13, 2022.
“I know Khristy is back with little Kaitlin, dancing with her in heaven. Khristy fought a long and hard battle and her faith never wavered. Khristy was and still is. would be a bright light in the world,” Woods wrote.
If you want to help your family, GoFundMe was created to help Corey support the couple’s 12-year-old son, pay medical bills, and make funeral arrangements.
