HYDERABAD: The juvenile son of an All India MLA Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has been charged in connection with the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Jubilee Hills on May 28.

On May 28, the girl was picked up by five accused from a pub in Jubilee Hills, from where they traveled in two different cars to a bakery in Banjara Hills. From there, except for the MLA’s son and a few others, the rest got into an SUV where the girl was allegedly raped.

Police on Monday recorded a gang rape victim’s testimony before a judge under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).
The move comes amid increasing police pressure to ensure that those charged – many of them from influential political families – are convicted.
A statement made under 164 of the CrPC is important for prosecution because on the basis of which the accused can be convicted. Even if a witness turns hostile, the trial will not be adversely affected.
After registering for FIR at the Jubilee Hills police station for five young people, three of them minors, the police recorded the victim’s statement under Section 162 of the CPC at Bharosa Center, a women’s support center. and children are victims of a crime.
Video of rape victim on social media causes outrage
Videos of victims being raped in Jubilee Hills – in the company of some of the accused – spread on social media, leading to the outrage of netizens, especially parents. Condemning that, they say it is bad to tarnish the image of a minor, who has had to go through such a harrowing experience.
One parent said: “It’s disgusting to see people so passionately assassinating the character, filming the girl’s video.
Another parent said: “Why are people so judgmental. Instead of making sure the survivor received justice, people were busy commenting on her character and questioning why she went to the pub. This should stop. ”
