Hyundai’s compact pocket rocket is set for a mid-life update, which will be revealed mid-year.
Executive technical advisor Albert Biermann, formerly head of Hyundai’s N division, confirmed Hyundai 2024 i20N facelift in a video above Hyundai N Australia YouTube account.
The updated Turkish-built version will launch in Europe in the summer, or sometime between June and August.
auto expert understand that it will then launch locally in early 2024.
Orders for the i20 N in Australia closed last year as Hyundai struggled with supply chain issues. They have yet to reopen and we don’t expect them to do so at least for the next few months.
“You don’t have to be afraid. It’s still going to be as crazy an angle as it is, says Biermann, which suggests there won’t be much in the way of mechanical updates.
i20 N is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine manufacture 150kW power and 275Nm torque, combined exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission.
This is the only hatch in its segment that offers exclusive post-production manuals Ford Fiesta ST. both Suzuki Swift Sports and Volkswagen Polo GTI offers a choice of manual or automatic transmission.
Spy photos published on auto spy of the regular i20, not sold here, shows it being camouflaged at both the front and rear.
We expect to see changes to aspects like the grille, headlights and taillights, and we can expect the i20 N to receive such changes as well.
While the i20 N will only be available locally at the end of 2021, the current generation i20 is set to launch in 2020. So a mid-life update should go as planned.
