‘I can’t force’ – Erik ten Hag explains why he didn’t catch the 26-year-old Manchester United star in the Europa League

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has stated that the club want to be careful while integrating Anthony Martial back into the team.

Martial has faced a few injuries in the early months of the ongoing season. The 26-year-old has missed seven games in all competitions for the Reds this term.

He returned to action in Manchester United’s 6-3 loss to Manchester City last weekend, coming on for the final 31 minutes. Some fans predict the Frenchman will start United’s UEFA Europa League encounter away with Omonia Nicosia on Thursday (October 6).

However, he has to do with another match on the bench. Ten Hag has now explained why. He said after the match against Omoniac (quoted by Manchester Evening News):

“We want to do it really carefully because he’s had a good pre-season. Good, fit, good impact too and the last 10 minutes (of the pre-season friendly) against Atletico Madrid, he fell and then he came back with Liverpool (on August 22), another injury, took him very far back.”

The Dutch strategist added:

“I can’t force it. I have to do it with a plan, that’s what we’re trying to do. It’s pretty obvious. Happy with his performance – all the subscribers have gone. had a really good impact.”

Ten Hag concludes:

“That’s what I expect from bench players. You don’t play against 11, you play against five, so every sub has to be ready and tonight is just the best example you have. obtainable.”

Anthony Martial missed Manchester United’s first two Premier League games due to a hamstring injury. He featured for the Reds in a 2-1 win over Liverpool in August and even assisted Marcus Rashford to score.

However, he later ran into some problems with his Achilles, which cost him an extra five games out of all competitions. When he returned, Martial scored twice against Manchester City and also scored against Onomia.
