NEW YORK – Tiffany Haddish’s next book will be a tear-jerking joke.
Amistad, an affiliate of HarperCollins Publishing, announced Friday that Haddish’s essay anthology “I Curse You With Joy” is scheduled to premiere November 29.
“’I Curse You With Joy’ includes stories about how Haddish used comedy to transform pain and turn it into art, auditioning for Saturday Night Live before becoming a manga for black women first organized it, how traumas in her own life made her more compassionate and her complicated relationship with her father, with whom she reunited after the age of 20,” one Amistad’s announcement section wrote.
Haddish’s first book of essays, “The Last Black Unicorn”, is a bestseller published in 2017. She has a picture book, “Layla, the Last Black Unicorn”, slated for release. eyes in May.
“After my first book, I knew I wanted to share more about myself in I Curse You With Joy,” Haddish said in a statement. “I wanted to take my readers on a journey with me, journeys full of ups and downs, to let people know that even when you get hurt, you can still spread joy.”
