I tried 8 products, here are my thoughts
You’ve certainly seen it on your Target shelf or your Instagram feed, so here’s the Versed Skin Care honest review you’ve been looking for. While admittedly I’m not an expert, I like to think that my skincare obsession gives me some credibility. I’m trying to figure out whatever the latest and greatest trends in skin care are, and right now, it’s definitely products from Versed. My TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest feeds are filled with rave reviews, so I knew it was time to check it out for myself.
Versed Skincare markets itself as the cleanest, most affordable pharmacy skin care brand. Its mission? To provide high quality skin care without appreciation. Not only clean products, but also sustainable packaging. Everything is vegan and cruelty-free, including no artificial fragrances, parabens and sulfates, plus 1,350+ other toxins the brand avoids. When a skincare brand has too many products, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and confused about what and when to use. However, Smart Versed includes How, Where, and When instructions on each bottle, making it easy to remember what each product is for (without having to keep track of the original packaging!). And the best part? I can get every item I need to check out from the beauty department at Target.
I tried eight of Versed’s most loved products and dug deep into their active ingredients, textures, scents and, of course, their results. Does it really match the hype? Let’s find out together.
MY SKIN TYPE: combination, but tends to be dry and some sensitive.
Read on to my honest Versed Skincare review:
Just Breathe Clarifying Serum
This is my favorite Versed Skincare product and one that I will 100% keep in my skin care regimen. It’s designed to calm inflammation and unclog pores, and it does just that. Since I have sensitive skin, a lot of acne-clearing products dry out my skin too much, but this Clarifying Serum is light and doesn’t dry out my skin at all. I also love that I can apply it all over my face 3-4 nights a week to prevent, instead of waiting for breakouts to pop up and treating with a dot cream.
Star ingredients:
- Willow Bark regenerates the skin
- Niacinamide minimizes redness, appearance of pores and regulates oil
- Anti-inflammatory zinc
Click Restart Gentle Retinol Serum
Retinol is perhaps the most well-known skin care product out there, and it’s designed to “reboot” your skin and help correct everything from texture to breakouts. If you’re nervous about adding retinol to your skincare routine (like me), this is the perfect starter. It’s super gentle because even though it contains retinol, it also contains retinol alternatives. I’ve been using this product three times a week and have had no redness or dryness, so I feel confident using retinol more often. Just make sure to always wear SPF to protect new skin cells.
Star ingredients:
- Encapsulated retinol promotes cell turnover but overtime release, helping to reduce the risk of irritation
- Vitamin A speeds up healing and has anti-aging properties
- Bakuchiol is a plant-based retinol-like ingredient that improves luminosity and uneven skin tone.
Overnight facial peeling with shortcut
This product is called “The Shortcut” because after washing your face it is the only product you need to use. Facials have always scared me a bit because I’m wary of intense treatments, but this particular skin type is very gentle. While I’m not sure if I’ve seen much visible results with this product, my skin did feel smooth and soft every morning after sleeping with this peel.
Star ingredients:
- Lactic and glycolic acids break down dead skin
- Rosehip hydrates and moisturizes the skin
- Vitamin E keeps skin calm
Stroke of Brilliance Brightening Serum
I love using this serum in the morning. While it’s hard to see immediate results with a vitamin C serum, this product did give my skin an immediate glow. Licorice root extract also gives the serum a natural scent that reminds me of chocolate (weird, I know). Be sure to wait for this layer to dry completely before applying makeup, as it can be a bit sticky.
Star ingredients:
- Vitamin C Brightens and Firms
- Licorice root brightens skin
- Niacinamide evens out skin tone
Rich moisturizing cream that soaks the skin
This is my new favorite ‘heavy’ moisturizer. It’s definitely on the rich side but still not greasy. My dry skin tends to need extra hydration in the winter, so this is my pick. My only caveat with this product is that it’s a bit thick for the makeup underneath, so I usually use it at night or on makeup-free days.
Star ingredients:
- Squalane hydrates and replenishes moisture
- Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds moisture
- Red algae extract restores skin
Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm
I love cleansing balms, so I was really looking forward to trying this one, but it’s honestly my favorite of the bunch. Cleansing oils are meant to melt away makeup without stripping away moisture, but I had to wash my face three times to completely remove it. I ended up using this product first, then using a gel cleanser to make sure my face was really clean. However, a little goes a long way and I love the light scent from the eucalyptus oil.
Star ingredients:
- Eucalyptus oil and cloves have natural antibacterial properties and add a spa-like scent
- Vitamin E moisturizes and heals
- Avocado Oil soothes and heals dry skin
Wash It Out Gel Cleanser
Wash It Out Gel Cleanser is soap-free, clean and safe for the eyes. It leaves my skin feeling clean, which I really love, without leaving it feeling too dry or tight. Rose water and mint also give it a cool, refreshing feel and scent. As mentioned earlier, I use this product after my initial cleansing with a cleansing balm. I’ve been using this cleaner twice a day, every day and it barely makes a dent on the bottle, so it should last you a long time.
Star ingredients:
- Ceramides are fatty acids naturally found in the skin that help keep the skin moist, plump and youthful
- Rose water balances the skin’s natural oils and adds a natural fragrance
- Seaweed extract soothes and softens skin
Mood Lighting Luminizing Glow Drops
Out of all the products in this Versed Skincare review, these light drops now have a permanent place in my makeup bag. Versed describes this product that works and feels like a serum, but looks like the perfect glow, and I couldn’t have made it better myself. I use these drops on makeup-free days for a natural glow and as the last step of my face makeup for an extra boost of luminosity. I’m all about light, so I love that this product works as both makeup and skincare, as it hydrates and plumps. I have fair to medium skin tone and have used the Sheer Golden shade.
Star ingredients:
- Peptide polyglutamic acid hydrates and strengthens the skin barrier
- Blackberry extract is rich in antioxidants
