KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Knoxville man is in custody after threatening Cedar Bluff Little Caesars workers with an AK-47 after he was told it would take ten minutes to make his pepperoni pizza, a Report from Knoxville State Police.
Employees responded to the restaurant shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, where they were informed that the suspect, identified as Charles Doty Jr., 53, became upset when informed that his peperoni pizza it will take him ten minutes to do. According to the report, “he got upset and asked for a voucher for a free bread order and went outside the business to wait for the pizza.”
When Doty Jr returned, he had a rifle in hand and pointed it at the employee, demanding his pizza immediately, the report read. Doty Jr is said to have stopped an employee trying to leave Little Caesars, asking “where did he think he was going”, and a woman waiting in line gave him her pizza to try to get him to leave.
WVLT spoke with former employee Kimberleigh Murrell, who is working on the case.
“He turned around and hadn’t pointed at anyone yet. I was taking care of a female client and she was just about to leave when he got a gun. He pointed at me and said where was my pizza — I wanted my pizza,” Murrell said, “To be honest, I was scared and completely disbelieving as if I was shocked then. is a six dollar pizza. ”
Noah Beeler is a current employee of Little Caesar and was also there when this incident occurred.
“Calm down. No need to be hostile. And as soon as I stepped on it, I said what’s in the god’s green earth gliding past your head, he took his hand off the trigger and onto the barrel to place it safely. safe and said don’t make it worse. I’m like a man… walk away,” Beeler said as he approached Doty Jr.
In a situation where it all starts with waiting for pizza, Murrell says, “We’re not always hot and ready! Never listen to the saying that we are not always in a hurry and ready”.
Doty Jr was charged with aggravated assault and especially aggravated kidnapping, the report said. Doty Jr has been arrested and is in prison.
