‘I’d be pretty shocked’ – Paul Merson gives new prediction for Arsenal’s top-flight clash with Manchester City
Arsenal great Paul Merson has stated that he would be surprised if the Gunners beat Manchester City in a Premier League encounter at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday (Feb 15).
The Gunners were unable to extend their position at the top of the 2022-23 Premier League table after a 1-1 draw at home to Brentford on Saturday (February 11). Winter signing Leandro Trossard scored his new club’s first goal in the 66th minute. But Ivan Toney leveled everything in the 74th minute to give Thomas Frank’s side a crucial away point.

“It’s going to be a tough game coming up. A big game on Wednesday night. If you want to win the Premier League, any league title, that’s how you recover. It’s all there. “It’s a matter of time. At the beginning of the season you might think, ‘Brentford at home, not the worst,’ but they are in good form and playing like a good team, a smart team.”
Dissecting Arsenal’s performance first brentfordMerson added:
“When they were leading 1-0, you would expect them to stay in shape but they didn’t. It was an important game on Wednesday. I think it will be decisive. Predicting Man City will reveal the Gunners defense, Merson continued:
