IIT Madras turns into a COVID-19 hotspot


Tamil Nadu Health Minister J.Radhakrishnan said at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM), with 25 more people testing positive, the total number of people infected with COVID-19 has reached 55.

According to him, tests are being carried out at 19 dormitories in the IITM complex. The infection rate was higher in a dormitory with students from other states.

‘Tamil Nadu Health Minister J.Radhakrishnan said the government will increase the number of Covid-19 tests from the current 18,000 to 25,000 per day. “

Out of 1,420 people, 55 have tested positive.

According to the state government, as of Friday, 57 people have tested positive for Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu and the total number of active Covid-19 cases is 286.
