Illegal AirBnB bust: NYC Sheriff impounds vans being used as illegal short-term rentals

EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) — Vans getting used as unlawful AirBnBs have been impounded off of the streets of New York Metropolis.

The New York Metropolis Sheriff’s Workplace working with the NYPD Doc Fraud Unit found a number of “alleged fraudulent and illegally registered vans.”

As a part of ‘Operation Room Service,” seven vans have been taken off of metropolis streets.

The vans have been parked on the road within the East Village and in Chelsea and all had New Jersey license plates.

Their house owners are accused of “a wide range of alleged offenses.”

Investigators have been tipped off partially by a YouTube video assessment of one of many vans.
