CHICAGO (CBS) – Illinois legislators are addressing gun violence.
The bipartisan Illinois Public Safety and Violence Task Force held a virtual hearing Thursday to discuss how state lawmakers can help law enforcement prevent Better stop gun violence.
“This isn’t about politics. It’s about life. It’s about welcoming all perspectives and putting into action practical solutions that can save lives,” Illinois Representative La Shawn said. Ford (D-), who chaired the task force, said.
The task force brought together politicians, prosecutors, law enforcement officials and even a licensed gun dealer for the hearing to discuss possible solutions to the cases. deadly shootings, as in Chicago, Highland Park and other communities.
Ford said this will be an ongoing dialogue after Thursday’s meeting.
