Travis Barker is updating fans on his health journey during his recent hospitalization.
The Blink-182 drummer, who married reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian in May, took to his Instagram Stories on Saturday to share that Monday’s procedure to remove a small polyp has resulted in “severe life-threatening pancreatitis”. In his message, he said that he has been in the hospital since the procedure but that he is feeling significantly better.
Barker, 46, wrote: “I had a colonoscopy on Monday, feeling great. During the colonoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged the critical pancreatic duct. This leads to severe, life-threatening pancreatitis. “
He concluded, “I am very grateful for the intensive treatment, I am much better now.”
Pancreatitis is a sudden inflammation of the pancreas that, in mild cases, resolves within a week with rest and treatment. Endoscopy involves the insertion of a tube down the throat to examine the digestive system.
Kardashian also shared messages on her Instagram Stories on Saturday about the ordeal, calling it a “scary and emotional week” after the pair went together for a “routine endoscopy”.
She continued, in part, “I am so grateful to God for healing my husband, for all your prayers for him and for us, for his overflowing love and support. aid. I am very touched and grateful.”
