IMF deal is ‘outdated:’ Pakistan’s foreign minister
DAVOS, Switzerland –
On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said an ongoing bailout agreement between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was “outdated”.
Bhutto Zardari told Reuters on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Pakistan entered into a $6 billion deal with the IMF over three years in 2019, but is struggling to deliver on tough policy commitments. Negotiations are underway in the Qatari capital Doha to free up funds to stabilize Pakistan’s struggling economy.
