India Covid-19: Borders open to vaccinated foreign tourists



New Delhi (CNN) – India opened its borders to fully vaccinated foreign tourists entering the country on commercial flights for the first time in nearly two years on Monday.

Incoming travelers must be fully vaccinated, test negative for the virus within 72 hours of flight, and be monitored for all Covid-19 according to the Ministry of Health.

Travelers from countries that have a mutual agreement with India for the recognition of vaccination certificates, including the US, UK and many European countries, can leave the airport without going through the test. check Covid-19. However, they must monitor their health for 14 days after arrival.

Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated travelers will have to submit samples for Covid-19 testing at the airport. They will then be allowed to leave the airport and be asked to isolate at home for a week. On the eighth day, they will be asked to do another test, and if negative, continue to monitor their health for another week.

It is the first time India has allowed foreign tourists on commercial flights to enter the country since March 2020, when it imposed one of the world’s strictest lockdowns in an attempt to prevent it from entering the country. stop the pandemic.

Fully vaccinated travelers on charter flights have been allowed entry starting last month.
