Indianapolis mother pleads for community help after son is shot dead in park – WISH-TV | Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A day after two teenage boys were shot dead in an east park, the mother of one of the boys is begging for the community’s help in finding who is responsible.

Da’Vonta White, 14, and her 15-year-old friend, Isaiah Jackson, have was shot dead Monday night at Dubarry Park on East Street 35. It’s a small Indy Parks facility southwest of East 38th Street and North Post Office Road.

Losing a child in such a violent manner is a nightmare for any parent, and it is a nightmare that White’s mother, Quanna White, says she keeps playing again.

“I was like, oh, my son is gone. He died. He’s dead,” White said.

White’s family members and friends gathered at the park Tuesday to show their support during this time of grief.

LaShonna Johnson, Quanna White’s cousin, said Da’Vonta White wasn’t a bad kid.

“He was never locked up. He’s never had any problems. He is a gamer. He sits in front of the TV and plays games,” Johnson said.

Detectives believe someone dropped Da’Vonta White into Dubarry Park. As for what happened next or a possible motive, however, investigators have said little.

“My cousin, Quanna White, just called her son and asked where he was. He said he was about to pull up at home. Within 15 minutes, she got a call with people howling and screaming, saying they couldn’t find him and they heard gunfire,” Johnson said.

White told News 8 that she called dispatch about the incident and arrived at the scene when police arrived.

“I just want to know, why did you kill my son?” White asked. “I just want justice for my child.”

Dorothy Brady, a family friend, says parents can help prevent these shootings and murders from happening.

“Mothers, fathers, you have to be involved. This happen must be ended. Brady said. “If someone knows something, I’m begging you. Please call in. ”

Da’Vonta White’s family is asking for any information on what happened to the two boys at Dubarry Park.

“It might not hit your house yet, but it could hit your doorstep next, and you’ll feel the same way as we do. So speak up if you know anything,” Johnson said.
