Thousands of Instagram users reported problems accessing the platform on Monday morning.
About 7,000 users reported that the app was down around 10:15 a.m. ET, according to outage tracking website Down Detector. However, after about 45 minutes, the number of reports dropped significantly.
Instagram confirmed in a tweet Monday that it is looking into the matter.
“We know that some of you are having trouble accessing your Instagram accounts. We are looking into the matter and apologize for the inconvenience,” the company said via handle verified communications on Twitter.
Additional information on the cause of the outage was not immediately available. Instagram did not respond to a request for comment.
