Investigation begins into death of Winnipeg man in custody – Winnipeg
Manitoba’s police watchdog is trying into the dying of a person whereas detained by police final week.
The Unbiased Investigation Unit (IIU) mentioned the incident came about after police had been known as to a scenario on Osborne Avenue on Nov. 4, during which a person was allegedly appearing aggressively and erratically on the highway.
When police arrived, the person was arrested, however he then collapsed. Paramedics administered CPR and the person was taken to St. Boniface Hospital the place he was later pronounced lifeless.
Due to the fatality, the IIU mentioned it has assumed duty for the investigation and can be making a request to the Manitoba Police Fee for a civilian monitor.
