Iowa man dies in tornado after shielding wife in bathtub


The family of a Madison County man say he died trying to protect his wife when a violent tornado tore through the couple’s home. Rodney Clark lay on top of his wife, Judy, in the tub to try to shield her from the impact. A neighbor found the couple about 100 feet from their home in a pile of rubble. Rhys Pate, Clark’s son-in-law said: “Protecting her comes first than anything else. Clark’s family believes that his last act of love saved his wife’s life. “I just know that it’s him. That’s what he’s definitely going to do,” said Jase Brumfild, Clark’s grandson. All that’s left of this couple’s 20-year-old home is a flat, muddy field. Judy now hopes to rebuild.
