Iowa State Troopers Charge OWI After Ames . Crash


An Iowa state trooper has been charged with drunk driving after police said he crashed his truck on Highway 30 in Ames early Friday morning. At about 2:45 a.m. Friday on South Duff Avenue, Police said Burrows was uninjured, and a blood draw order was issued. It is not clear whether he took a breath test at the scene or what his blood alcohol level was.

An Iowa State soldier has been charged with operating under the influence of alcohol after police said he crashed his truck on Highway 30 in Ames early Friday morning.

Ames police said they found Christopher Burrows, who crashed his Ford F-150 in the median near Highway 30 and South Duff Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Friday.

Ames police said Burrows was not injured, and a blood draw order was issued. It is unclear if he performed a ventilator test at the scene or what his blood alcohol level was.

The Iowa State Patrol declined to comment on the arrest, citing staffing issues.

Story County Jail records show Burrows was released from custody.
