WhatsApp brings a camera shortcut to the iPhone that will give users quick access to the camera within the app.
WhatsApp is reportedly planning to bring a camera shortcut to iPhone users, allowing them to access the camera easily. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the instant messaging app owned by Meta will bring this new feature on WhatsApp beta for iOS Update 126.96.36.199. The new update sent through the TestFlight beta Program shows that the iPhone camera shortcut will be placed in the navigation bar and will be visible to users. This new camera shortcut on WhatsApp will give users quick access to the camera in the app. For now, WhatsApp offers a separate camera tab, but it will be replaced by a Community tab later. According to the report, the camera shortcut on the iPhone looks similar to one on Android, however, this feature is in development and is not currently available to users. It is expected to roll out soon with a future update.
Recently, WhatsApp released a similar camera shortcut for Android beta users who could also create communities, however, it was removed later due to a bug.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is planning to bring a new feature that allows users to search messages by date. According to the report of WaBetaInfo, the instant messaging platform is working on searching messages by date. When this feature is rolled out, users will see a new calendar icon when they search for messages in a chat. With this icon, users will be able to see messages for a certain date. Furthermore, they will be able to dismiss the date view by scrolling through the conversation.
That’s not all, the instant messaging app is also rolling out a new privacy feature that will allow users to hide their online activity status from select contacts this month. This feature is already available to beta testers and will be released to the general public soon.
