It’s been almost 20 years since Apple debuted its iconic music player – the iPod. However, after phasing out the iPod, the Cupertino-based tech giant has stated that the only model of iPod – the iPod touch – will be available while supplies last.
In a post in its newsroom, Apple said that “customers can purchase iPod touch through Apple’s online store and Apple Authorized Resellers while stocks last.”

It will always be a matter of time before the iPod is discontinued. The first iPod was introduced in 2001 and the last model came out in 2019. During all these years, Apple has released many variations of the iPod and it really changed the way people listen to music. In 2007, when Apple released the iPhone, even then, iPod sales continued to grow. However, over the past 10 years or so, the iPhone – and other smartphones – have become the one stop shop for everything, including music.
The iPod touch is probably the cheapest way for users to get into Apple’s ecosystem, and the company has stuck with it for a long time. The last iPod touch is powered by the A10 Fusion chip – the chip found in the iPhone 7 – and comes in a variety of colors.
This is definitely the end of the era when the iPod really made Apple’s name, making it more accessible to a large number of users and laying the groundwork for the iPhone in some way.
