China’s population has fallen for the first time in more than six decades. The birth rate falls to 6.77 births per 1,000 people by 2022.

Complicating matters is that there are more deaths than births.

Economists warn that low birth rates and a rapidly aging population will have far-reaching effects – not only locally but also on the global economy.
