Islamic State (IS) terrorist Md. Masiuddin, alias Musa, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Special Court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Kolkata on Friday.

Musa was the first IS terrorist to be arrested in Bengal in 2016.

Musa was arrested for planning attacks at key tourist attractions in Bengal and Srinagar.

He has been charged under relevant sections of Illegal Activities (Prevention) Act, Indian Penal Code and section 25 of Firearms Act.

Musa was even questioned by a team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He was arrested by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in 2016 and later turned over to the NIA.

Mohammad Masiuddin alias Musa, resident of Birbhum district, was arrested by CID from Burdwan railway station in July 2016.

The NIA in its allegation claimed that Musa planned to carry out an attack against foreigners, especially American and British tourists visiting Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity headquarters. in Kolkata.

Other targets in his plan include Sealdah Railway Station and the Park Circus.
