Israel launches deadly air raid on Aleppo airport: media | Military News

The attack, which closed the international airport, is believed to have killed at least one person and injured many others.

Israeli air strikes targeted the international airport in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo early Tuesday, kill Syrian state media said, a Syrian soldier and caused the airport to be shut down.

Citing a military official, state news agency SANA said two civilians and five other Syrian soldiers were injured.

There was no immediate statement from Israeli authorities to the Associated Press about the attacks.

Airports have been an important channel for aid line back home after the earthquake Türkiye and Syria on February 6, killing more than 50,000 people, including more than 6,000 in Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based opposition war watchdog, said the attack targeted an arms depot near the airport. It also reported on Israeli attacks on a military airport in rural Aleppo, although Syrian state media did not report on the matter.

Israel, having promised to prevent Iran’s entrenchment in neighboring countries, has done hundreds of attacks on government-controlled parts of neighboring Syria in recent years but rarely acknowledge them.

SANA reported on Saturday that Israeli air strikes on Homs injured three civilians and a civilian fuel station caught fire. The SOHR said the missiles destroyed an ammunition depot belonging to the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah at a military airport in the Homs countryside.
