Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton has backed Arsenal to sign Brighton & Hove Albion Chelsea strikers and rumors target Leandro Trossard.
In the first day of this month, Mirror reports that Trossard will be willing to reunite with The Blues boss, Graham Potter. The duo worked together at Brighton for three years before Potter moved to Stamford Bridge last month. However, Chelsea could face competition from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid for his signature.
The Daily mail Since then, Arsenal have also been racing to sign Trossard, whose current contract with the Seagulls expires next summer. Hutton believes the Belgian could be a good signing for the Gunners and says Football Insider:
“He has had a good season so far for Brighton. I think he’s definitely the type of profile Arsenal look at. He likes to drive forward with the ball, can do things, score goals. He can play multiple positions.“
The former Aston Villa and Tottenham right-back continued:
“I’m not really surprised after the season he’s had that people are looking at him. It will be an interesting one. As long as Trossard can keep his form high, I’m sure there will be others watching his situation.“
Trossard has scored six goals in 11 Premier League games this season as Brighton sit in ninth place in the table. He is most notable for scoring a hat-trick at Anfield to help the Seagulls draw Liverpool 3-3 earlier this month.
The versatile forward scored eight goals in 34 games last season and will of course breach that record this time around.
Overall, Trossard has scored 24 goals and 13 assists in 115 games for Brighton. He also made 21 caps for Belgium, scoring five times and providing three assists.
Arsenal and Chelsea look to return to winning Premier League this weekend
Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with moves for multiplayer, but their current focus will be on adding to their winning columns this weekend.
The Blues will take over Leandro Trossard and Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday (October 29) at the American Express Community Stadium. Potter’s side entered this clash following a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in their most recent clash.
However, it is worth noting that Chelsea beat RB Salzburg 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will host 20th-placed Nottingham Forest at Emirates’ home on Sunday (October 30). The Gunners drew 1-1 with Southampton in their final Premier League game. They then had to receive a 0-2 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Europa League in midweek.
