“It’s a system in general that I don’t really like”

Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Midfielder Vikash Dhorasoo criticized France coach Didier Deschamps for his tactics in Les Bleus’ 0-2 away loss to Denmark in UEFA Nations League on September 25.

Dhorasoo represented the Parisians during the 2005-06 season, playing 40 matches for the club. He has also represented top European clubs such as AC Milan and Olympique Lyon during his career.

However, the midfielder, who played 18 times for France in his career, criticized Deschamps’ method. He believes that doesn’t allow centre-backs to be involved in the game and the hole gives the opponent a numerical advantage.

While talking to L’Equipethis is what Dhorasoo said (via Get French football news):

“A lot of things. For me, the system isn’t good – it’s a system in general that I don’t really like. If none of the three centre-backs are involved, you lose someone in midfield, and then you’re at a numerical disadvantage.

“I noticed that with four Danish defenders, their right-back can be very involved in the game. Not our case, all the big teams, the World Cup winners, They all play with four defenders.”

He went on to add:

“Inexperienced. At the highest level, when facing many difficulties, you need experienced players. You have to take into account injuries – but Didier Deschamps has to play that game against his young players. We know that Varane will be in the back, and hopefully Kanté will be in midfield as well.”

The loss to Denmark was France’s last match ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They are in Group D for the tournament in Qatar alongside Australia, Denmark and Tunisia. Didier Deschamps’ side will face off as the defending champions.
